Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it.
Do not believe simply because it has been handed down for many generations.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.
Do not believe in anything simply because it is written in Holy Scriptures.
Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of teachers, elders, or wise men.
Believe only after careful observation and analysis, when you find that it agrees with reason,
and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all. Then accept it and live up to it."
(and even then keep your Belief System flexible
my motto is "believe nothing", so you don't filter out
anything that goes against your (uninformed) beliefs.
Even Buddha didn't know how weird reality was gonna get.)
"The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend a personal God and avoid dogmas and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity. If there is any religion that would cope with modern scientific needs, it would be Buddhism."
My opinion is religion is an obsolete concept, spirituality will suffice.
